Week 47: Rain And Blessings From A Fast

Tuesday: started off super hot and then out of no where it dumped on us. Rain like I've never seen before dumping buckets. In seconds the streets were rivers and we were soaking wet. We continued on with the work but realized quickly we couldnt do much because the streets where up to our calves in water and lightning started and we had the impression to return home so we did, thinking we could make some phone calls but we lost signal then we lost our water but without signal we couldnt work our phone was literally useless jajaja we were only home and hour early so it wasnt to bad but the funny thing is we couldnt notify our DL that we were home and by the time we asked our nieghbors for their WiFi it was almost 10:00 ( an hour late ) we had a ton of missed calls from our DL, ZLs, HL, APs and our mission President pretty sure they thought we had died or something. We didnt have signal in our phone until Firday so we had to trek to the church every morning to plan and we didnt have our map so we kept having to return to the church throughout the day to find our next visit it was super frustrating. To make things even more frustrating our water didnt return for two days and we were literally showering with water bottles and gallon jugs. On Thurdsay it dumped on us again and thats when we lost power so were out of power, water and signal it was a wild week but full of miracles.

We were on a visit one day and the member was looking for her snail and she asked if it was true that in the states we eat snails me and Hermana Lopez said that yes we do but not often like once in a life time because its gross and she sent us a picture later that night telling us she found it and that its for looking and not eating. It was a funny conversation because itn got us talking about the crazy things we've eaten in our mission and she was horrified even though she literally lives in argentina jajaj but oh well some people feed us questionable food.

We have been having a bit of a hard time because we have lots people to teach but they arent progressing so we have to stop teaching them. Ive been a little down and feeling lots of stress because I didnt have a baptism in februaury and thats a no no in my mission so I’ve been feeling like a failure as a missionary but since it was fast sunday I decided to fast for a family to teach and to have a baptism by the end of this transfer which is in two weeks.  Me and my companions got to church and we see one of our references walk in and were like ok wow thats a first and some of the members know her so we were super happy. The meeting starts and we see this less active member walk in and another less active member and then another and I am shocked because for years these people have been away from the chruch and here they are. And ok for the biggest miracle I was literally praying and praying that we would have one more new person at church and we see this guy enter with his wife and daughter. Me and Hermana Souza look at each other both thinking it could be a reference we recived a few days ago and who we have been teaching a little over the phone and it was! He has a wife and a daughter who is 8!!! They stayed the whole time and we gave them some books of mormon to accomany the class and we look over and they were reading it and at the end of the class they tried to give back the books but it was a gift and they go "so we do we need to bring this book next sunday" we almost screamed "YES!!" They said they really enjoyed it! so please pray for Frederico, Romina and Luna they are a literal gift from god and deserve to have the blessings of the gospel in their lives!! So Pray!!!

This week I have been reading in Alma when he is talking to his sons and when he teaches about life after death. Lots of people assume we either go to heaven or hell based on if we have accepted christ on earth or not but thats just not true. We have a loving heavenly father who loves every single one of his children and he has a plan for us. A plan that will allow us to live with him again, a plan that will give everyone of his children the opportunity to learn of him and accept the gospel of his son Jesus Christ. I feel so blessed to have this plan because I know that god loves me and wants me to return to him! It gives me an identity and I know I am truely a daughter of god!

Los amo a todo
