Week 25: Luciano's Baptism!!! (Aka Hermana Jensens Miracle Baptism)

I want to start this email by addressing the fact that MY HOME TOWN IS GETTING A TEMPLE!!!! VANCOUVER WASHINGTON!!!!!
I am not kidding when they announced vancouver Washington I literally shouted  "SHUT UP" all the members here looked at me like I was crazy as I started crying jajaja. Literally what a huge blessing!! I am so FREAKIN happy

My focus of this email is Luciano because literally he was our focus this week. Our mission leader in the ward said on monday that the only boy in my life right now was Luciano jajajaja ( he was right ) but it payed it off because...

LUCIANO WAS BAPTIZED!!! And seriously it was a miracle!! My miracle baptism but also the most awkward baptism of my life jajaja. I was so stressed out all this week for his baptism because it wasnt until Thusday that there was a set plan because Monday and Tuesday he told us that he wanted to wait a little longer because he wanted to know more but I shared the fact that we are not going to know everything and that we need to act in faith in the things we do know. I asked him if he had a testimony in God and Jesus christ he said yes I then asked if he knew Joseph Smith to be a prophet he said yes I continued to ask about 5 more questions and for those of you returned missionaries you probably already guessed that I did the baptism preinterview without him even knowing. I told him after that he knew enough and was ready and that he had just proved it and that it was time to act.  And so he did he did the interview with our district leaders and was baptized on Saturday. Lets just say Saturday was crazy. Luciano watched conference with us and was baptized right after. The reason this baptism was so awkward was because he invited his gym bros and they thought I was crazy. I kept trying to talk to them and make jokes but they just stared at me like an idiot and told me that Luciano said I was weird :( I also had to lead to the music in the baptism but I dont know how to do that so I stood there ( no one was singing too) and I cant sing and was waving my hand like and idiot and all Lucianos friends were laughing at me. But in the end all worked out and he was baptized. Teaching Luciano and helping him be baptized was an act of faith and a miracle ( Ive never prayed for someone so much jajaja ) the members are calling it Hermana Jensens miracle because literally it was a miracle. All our lessons were weird and awkward and made me laugh so much. I really enjoyed teaching him and playing a part in his conversion. He never gave a direct answer and never wanted to pray out loud
Heres the game we played/fought every day when it came time to pray:
1. To start the game clap your hands and wait for the door to answer
2.the game offical starts when a tall boy in all black to answer
3. Ask if he wants to say the first or last prayer ( he will say no to both ) your companion will then give into the tension and prayer
4. Give a FIRE lesson
5. Ask again if he wants to pray ( he will say no )
6. Spend the next two minutes motioning back and forth to each other with your heads
7. Stand in awkward silence with arms folded and head down and say " estamos eschando"
8. Wait another 5 minutes in silence ( the occasional laughter is welcomed )
9. Give in and say the prayer
10. Realize you are constantly loosing the game.

As you can see from this "game" it was not easy to teach him it was a battle but a huge blessing but I am so happy that he was baptized! He told me after that it was a "lindo experiencia " and that he was grateful to me for not giving up on him. And that made me feel really good and that I was making a diffence in the lives of others.

This was a stressful week that turned into a big blessing and the crowning accomplishment of my mission to this point jajaja.

Los amo a todos
Hermana Jensen
