Week 4: Kitkat Ice Cream, Choir And The Temple
Hola!!
I have had some major ups and downs these last few days
On saturday night we had our mock lesson and it went well for my companions but horrible for me I couldn't understand a thing and when I did understand something I couldn't formulate the words into a sentence to respond I was overwhlemed and close to tears by the end. I also had to take a language assesment I did so bad I was really frustraded, overwhelemd, tired, and it was so hard to keep from crying. It is so hard to be patient with the language but I am trying my best although at times it seems like it isnt enough.
Later that night we locked ourselves out of our aparment for the second time that day so we had to walk with wet hair, no tags, wearing pijamas in a thunder and lightening storm to get the spare key. We got a really annoyed look from the reception lady because we were not dressed like missionaries and it was almost 10:30.
On sunday we had fast sunday and fasting for 24 hours is hard so that by the time lunch came around we were starving so much in fact that we ate a ton of kitkat ice cream bars especially Elder Dickson he ate 11 kitkat ice cream bars in one sitting and he definetly felt them later. All the latino Elders made fun of him and were taking pictures of him it was pretty funny.
My companions wanted to join the choir and since I can't be away from them I was forced to join as well and if you know me I can't sing to save my life so it was an experience to say the least. But the spirit was so strong.
Monday went by really smooth me and my companions have very bad sore throats. It was also pretty nice out so we decided to go on a run but the air is so polluted and thin that we didn't last very long. Also the Elders in my district are some of the funnest people ever they are constantly making me laugh. Elder Raab discovered his love of mangos and ate SIX of them I don't know what is with these Elders but they eat everything in sight. And when they eat cereal they always get milk on me.
On Tuesday I laughed so hard all day long it was so much fun! I played volleyball and I am not very good the Elders threatened to kick me off the court. Later we had a really good devotional where we sung the EFY melody in spanish and the spirit was SO strong.
This morning I got the chance to attend the México City Temple and it was so amazing. The temple is so beautiful and I am starting to love how beautiful the Spanish language is. My companion Hermana Millar bless her heart fell asleep. I can't blame her because we were up until 12 ransaking our room to find her temple reccomend and we had to get up at 5:30 to make it to the temple. But it was such a powerful experience.
I'll leave you with a scripture:
Doctrine and Covenants 30:5
"you shall open your mouth to declare my gospel; therefore, fear not, but give heed unto the words and advice of your brother, which he shall give you."
Love you all
Hermana Jensen
